The Mi Band 6 launched as Xiaomi’s latest fitness tracker in late March 2021, with a large AMOLED display, SpO2 tracking and even advanced sleep tracking. Now, the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, has posted on Weibo to announce that 1 million units of this new wearable have shipped worldwide already.

The successor to the Mi Band (or Mi Smart Band) 5 debuted recently with upgrades such as a larger, 1.56-inch display and a blood oxygen sensor. It sells in China for up to 279 yuan (~US$44) for a version with NFC, and worldwide via AliExpress for $45, even though that global variant lacks the aforementioned wireless feature.

Nevertheless, the Mi Band 6 has proved popular enough to sell 1 million units already, despite only being on the market since April 2, 2021. This is in accordance with a new Weibo announcement posted by Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO.

NFC status aside, the Mi Band 6 remains a powerful new fitness wearable option, and is even rated to measure the user’s breathing during sleep with its latest software update. It also features 30 sports modes as opposed to 11 in its predecessor, and can also detect and start tracking 6 of these automatically for the user.

The Chinese-market Mi Band 6 with NFC (not guaranteed to work globally) is on Amazon for ~$64

This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
